Our June 25th show was really special. The evening began with a stellar live performance from Jack Ruby Presents. Since the show was only last Saturday, production hasn't yet commenced, but I can tell you right now -- JRP's performance is going to make for a terrific live album. The set they delivered last Saturday confirmed everything that word of mouth and their online presence have indicated: this is a great young band of which terrific things can be expected. Keep an eye on them, and, of course, keep an eye on this site for a live album from them in the coming months.
Following JRP's performance was Death Songs, performing as a duet of Nick Delffs (vocals, electric piano, guitar) and Justin Power (drums). For those unfamiliar with Delffs, he's been the frontman (and man behind) The Shaky Hands for as long as they've been producing full-length records. Echoing a sentiment that Jack Ruby Presents frontman Jesse Hughey expressed during the show: The Shaky Hands are one of our very favorite Portland bands, and it was a real pleasure welcoming Delffs and Power to record at the 'Stand. Their performance demonstrated incredible comfort both recording and recording live, and made for recordings that we think are going to produce something exceptional. Again, check back soon for a full-length live album from Death Songs, and keep your eyes out for upcoming releases from the band: two are on the way from friend-of-the-Stand Nicholas Taplin's Post-Consumer Records, and, from what I hear, both are incredible.
We want to thank Death Songs, Jack Ruby Presents, everyone that helped out (especially Aaron Cody for all of his video work) and everyone that came out to be a part of the audience for a wonderful show. We hope you enjoy these photos and videos of the show, and that you'll check back to the site soon for more from the bands and 'Stand!
